The TV animation is brought to the US in two different formats.  Dubbed & heavily cut / messed up version as seen on TV available on VHS/DVD, and the clean subtitled uncut version that is available on VHS/DVD as well... 

Uncut English subtitled version on VHS and DVD
(DVD is region 1 for North America)
 Each DVD is retailed at $29.98, VHS is at $24.98.
But if you shop around online, you can probably find video sites selling at 30% off.
